Stake VIP Rakeback: How Much You Actually Get Back

The rakeback percentages at every VIP tier (Bronze to Obsidian), the three ways rakeback is paid, and whether grinding toward a higher tier actually pays off.
Stake's VIP rakeback is one of the largest rakeback programs in online gambling. It's also the most hand-wavy, players hear "up to 15% rakeback" and don't know if that means they're getting 1% or 15% on their actual play. This post explains exactly how it works, what you get at each tier, and whether VIP is genuinely worth chasing.
What "rakeback" means
Rakeback is a percentage of your house-edge losses that get refunded back to you. It's the closest thing to a universal casino reward program, the more you play (and lose), the more you get back.
Specifically, rakeback is computed on your house contribution (the amount the house takes as expected profit on your wagers):
- Dice/Limbo/Crash at 1% house edge: if you wager $10,000, the house makes $100 on average. Rakeback is a percentage of that $100.
- Slots at 4% house edge: $10,000 wagered → $400 house contribution → rakeback is a % of $400.
So higher-edge games (slots) generate more rakeback per dollar wagered than Originals. This is both how the industry is designed and why most rakeback programs nudge you toward slots.
Stake's VIP tiers
Bronze → Silver → Gold → Platinum I–VI → Diamond I–V → Obsidian I
Each tier has a wagering threshold. You climb by accumulating lifetime wagered amount:
| Tier | Wagering threshold (USD) | Base rakeback |
|---|---|---|
| Bronze | $10,000 | ~2–3% |
| Silver | $50,000 | ~3–4% |
| Gold | $100,000 | ~4–5% |
| Platinum I | $250,000 | ~5–6% |
| Platinum III | $1M | ~7–8% |
| Platinum VI | $10M | ~10% |
| Diamond I | $25M | ~11% |
| Diamond V | $500M | ~13–14% |
| Obsidian I | $1B | ~15%+ |
(Exact percentages vary and are not publicly published in detail — these are approximations from community data.)

The three rakeback payout forms
Stake delivers rakeback in a few mechanics. Understanding them is key:
1. Instant rakeback
Real-time refund of a small percentage of each bet, applied immediately. Adds up invisibly over a session. This is the baseline for every VIP player.
2. Weekly / monthly bonuses
Larger chunks returned as weekly boosts (free bet credits) or monthly cash payouts straight to your balance. Requires active play during the period.
3. Level-up bonuses
One-time payouts when you hit a new tier. These are typically flat amounts ($100 Bronze → $5k Platinum I → six figures at Diamond/Obsidian). Appear in your rewards inbox when you level up.
The VIP host system
Platinum IV and above assigns you a dedicated VIP host. This is also where reload bonuses kick in. Until P4 you're on the standard reward schedule (rakeback %, weekly, monthly, level-up). Once your host is assigned, the program stops being a fixed percentage and becomes negotiable:
- You can request boosted rakeback during specific periods
- Your host can offer free spin packages, VIP race entries, and custom deposit-match promos
- Tournament + race seeding favors higher-tier players
If you're Platinum IV+ and not using your host, you're leaving real money on the table. The hosts exist to keep you playing; they have budget to incentivize you. A polite DM asking for a rakeback boost or a deposit-match offer during a quiet week is often granted.
Is VIP actually worth chasing?
It depends on the "why" behind the question:
If you'd grind anyway, yes
You're losing 1–4% of your wagered volume to the house regardless. Rakeback at 5–10% of that is basically free money on your natural play. Every tier up increases the rakeback %, accelerating returns on wagering you'd be doing anyway.
If you'd grind to reach a tier, probably not
If you'd wager $100k just to hit Gold for the rakeback, you're paying real expected loss:
- $100k wagered × 1% (Originals) = $1,000 expected loss
- Rakeback at Bronze tier (avg ~2.5%) during wagering: $25 back
- Rakeback at Gold (~4.5%) going forward on future play: depends on future volume
The "forced" wagering to reach a tier doesn't pay back in rakeback. You'd need to keep wagering at Gold volume after reaching it for the tier to pay off.
Our VIP Calculator shows estimated cost-to-tier-up at 1%, 3%, and 4% house edge. Look at the numbers honestly. Platinum I alone requires $250k in wagering — at 1% edge that's $2,500 of expected loss to unlock about $10k of net rakeback value over your future play if you continue at similar volume. Viable only for heavy players.
If you're playing to "catch up to VIP someone else has"
Don't. Social-comparison VIP chasing is a bankroll-ending impulse. The Diamond/Obsidian tiers require $25M–$1B in lifetime wagering, that's millions in expected loss to get the rakeback symbol next to your name. It's vanity, not value.
Tier jumps and payout timing
A useful pattern: Stake pays bigger level-up bonuses for big jumps than for incremental climbs. Going Bronze → Silver gives a small bonus. Going Gold → Platinum III gives a much bigger one.
Some players concentrate wagering to hit a big jump in one month rather than spreading it. This doesn't change your total rakeback (the math is the same), but it makes the level-up bonus more dopamine-hit-y.
How to maximize rakeback % within your tier
Three levers:
-
Play higher-edge games. More house contribution = more rakeback. If you're a slots player, your rakeback will naturally be higher than an Originals-only player at the same tier. But watch out: higher-edge games also lose faster. Rakeback doesn't make negative-EV games positive.
-
Stay consistent. Many of the weekly/monthly rakeback bonuses require minimum wagering during the period. Miss the threshold → miss that tier's payout for the period. If you play sporadically, you miss more than you realize.
-
Talk to your host (Platinum+). Explicit asks for rakeback boosts during low-activity weeks get approved more often than you'd expect. Hosts are incentivized to keep you retained; they have flex room.
The Stake-specific rakeback quirks
"Instant bonuses" vs "scheduled bonuses"
Stake has a real-time "Drop & Wins"-style bonus drop system where, during active play, small bonuses ($1–$50) randomly drop into your account. These are on top of rakeback, not part of it. Worth noting so you don't undercount your effective returns.
Monthly bonus recall
Monthly rakeback bonuses are paid usually within the first 3–5 days of the new month. If you expected it and it didn't arrive, check the Bonuses page, sometimes they're issued as redemptions that require manual claim within 24 hours.
Tier downgrade protection
Unlike some casinos, Stake doesn't demote tiers for inactivity within a reasonable window. If you hit Gold and stop playing for 3 months, you're still Gold when you come back. Good for players who cycle in and out.
Comparing Stake's rakeback to competitors
Stake's rakeback is broadly competitive but not universally the highest:
- Stake: 5–15% depending on tier; weekly + monthly + instant
- Roobet: ~3–5% base, up to 10% at highest tiers (VIP Lux)
- BC.Game: similar to Stake, ~2–10% depending on level
- Duelbits: aggressive rakeback for high-rollers, sometimes up to 15%+
Rakeback alone doesn't win the comparison — Stake's 99% Originals mean you're losing less to begin with, so less rakeback needed to net out. Our Stake vs Roobet vs BC.Game comparison walks through this math.
Practical VIP strategy
- If you're Bronze / Silver: don't chase tiers. Play your normal game; rakeback is small but free. Use Originals for low variance.
- If you're Gold / Platinum I-III: rakeback is meaningful and weekly/monthly bonuses are bigger, but you don't have a host yet. Optimize for consistent volume — claim every weekly/monthly bonus, watch your rakeback total as a real-cost signal.
- If you're Platinum IV+: your host is assigned. Rakeback is now negotiable, reload bonuses kick in. Don't sit on it — message your host during quiet weeks to ask for boosts. Time bigger bets to coincide with rakeback race periods.
- If you're Diamond+: custom deals with your host are always worth the message. Rakeback + negotiated perks can net 20%+ effective return on your house contribution at this level.
The short of it
Stake's VIP rakeback is real and substantial, but it's a reward for the wagering you do anyway, not a reason to wager more. The program shines for players already grinding volume. It's vanity for players trying to climb tiers artificially. Check your tier's rakeback rate, track your wagering against the threshold with our calculator, and talk to your host if you're Platinum+ — that's the playbook.
