Stake Mobile App Guide: iOS, Android, and the PWA Alternative

Published 2026-04-07 · Tags: guides, mobile, account

Why Stake has no global App Store app, how to install the PWA, when to use the native Android APK, and the proper Stake.us iOS/Google Play path.

Stake doesn't have a proper App Store / Google Play app in most regions, Apple and Google severely restrict real-money gambling apps. What Stake does have is a Progressive Web App (PWA) that installs from their website like a native app, a downloadable APK for Android outside Google Play, and region-specific native apps where gambling apps are approved. This post covers every mobile path and which one to actually use.

The quick answer

Why there's no "Stake app" on the App Store (mostly)

Apple: Real-money gambling apps require App Store approval in every individual country where they're offered. Apple requires operators to submit separate apps per jurisdiction, get each approved by local regulators, and maintain them individually. Stake has apps approved in some countries but not as a global unified product.

Google: Similar. Google Play allows gambling apps in specific regions but rejects them globally.

Result: search "Stake" on the App Store and you'll mostly find Stake.us (the US sweepstakes app, legal under US rules because it's "social"), not Stake.com. Outside the US, you'll find region-specific Stake apps where they exist.

The PWA, what it is, how to install it

A Progressive Web App looks and feels like a native app but runs in a browser engine. You install it from the website itself, not an app store.

iOS installation (iPhone / iPad)

  1. Open Safari (not Chrome, not Firefox, Safari specifically)
  2. Go to stake.com and log in
  3. Tap the share icon at the bottom (arrow-out-of-box)
  4. Scroll down, tap "Add to Home Screen"
  5. Name it "Stake" (or whatever)
  6. Tap Add

The Stake icon appears on your home screen. Tapping it opens in full-screen mode with no Safari chrome — looks like a native app.

Android installation

  1. Open Chrome and go to stake.com
  2. Tap the three-dot menu
  3. Tap "Add to Home Screen" or "Install app"
  4. Confirm

Chrome on Android does a slightly better PWA install than iOS, it creates a proper app container that appears in your app drawer, not just a shortcut.

PWA limitations

PWAs work well but have quirks vs native apps:

For 99% of Stake usage (playing games, checking balance, chatting), the PWA is indistinguishable from a native app.

The Android APK path

If you're in a country where gambling apps are prohibited on Google Play but allowed legally, Stake offers an APK download from their site.

How to install:

  1. Go to stake.com on your Android's Chrome
  2. Navigate to Settings → Mobile or similar (the link is sometimes at the footer)
  3. Download the APK file
  4. In Android Settings → Security → "Install from unknown sources," enable for Chrome (temporarily)
  5. Open the downloaded APK, install

Native APK gives you:

Stake.us on iPhone / Android

Stake.us is available in the US App Store and Google Play Store as a proper native app, the sweepstakes legal model allows this.

Search "Stake.us" on either store, install, log in with your Stake.us account. This is a genuinely native app with all the standard features: push notifications, biometric login, deep linking, etc.

Note: Stake.us is US-only and does not use crypto. See our Stake.com vs Stake.us guide for the differences.

What's available in the mobile product

The two-app setup

Most serious Stake mobile players run two apps:

  1. Stake (PWA or native APK), the actual casino
  2. StakeCruncher (PWA of stakecruncher.com), tools, verifier, P&L tracking, alerts

Install ours the same way: open stakecruncher.com in Safari/Chrome, add to home screen. We work offline-capable for tools that run client-side (Verifier, Bet Analyzer, Session Rebuilder, Degen Diagnosis).

Native APK advantages:

For most players, PWA wins on convenience. Serious grinders sometimes prefer APK for the native-app feel.

Call it

Stake doesn't have a global App Store app because Apple/Google restrict gambling apps. Use the PWA (iOS/Android via browser's "Add to Home Screen") for a near-native experience. Android users in gambling-app-approved regions can get the APK directly from Stake. Stake.us is a proper native app in US regions where it's legal. Install ours alongside so you have tools + casino in the same mobile dock.

Install the StakeCruncher PWA too. Go to stakecruncher.com on mobile →
